Consecutive and Simultaneous Interpretation

Consecutive Interpretation is appropriate for business meetings, investigative interviews, and court proceedings. No equipment is required; the interpreter passes information between the two parties. The interpreter waits for one party to finish speaking before interpreting for the other party. Consecutive interpretation gives participants the opportunity to focus on the language they understand without having to decipher different language sounds at once, making communication more efficient.

Simultaneous Interpretation is the process of interpreting from one language to another while the sender of the message is speaking, instead of waiting for the sender to finish. It requires the interpreter to listen, analyze, comprehend, convert, edit, and reproduce in real-time from the source language to the target language while a speaker continues to speak in a specific social context.
